Message from Incoming Programme Director
Welcome to the School of Accountancy (SOA) of Singapore Management University! We are a community of scholars, educators, and professionals committed to advancing knowledge and practice in accounting and financial markets. The scholarship produced by our faculty and students addresses important issues facing organisations, the profession, and society, both nationally and internationally.
We are pleased to introduce the Doctor of Professional Accounting (DPAcc), the first programme of its kind in Singapore. The programme is designed for experienced accounting and business professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge, broaden their perspectives, and develop the capacity to conduct rigorous research on issues of importance to professional practice and society.
At the heart of the DPAcc is a belief that research should have meaning and create impact. Meaningful research starts with questions that matter - questions arising from real challenges and with the potential to improve how we understand and address them. Through the programme, students will learn to identify such questions, investigate them rigorously, and generate knowledge that extends beyond the academic community.
We believe the value of doctoral research lies not only in its contribution to academic scholarship, but also in its ability to influence professional practice and benefit society. The DPAcc therefore brings together academic rigour and professional experience, providing students with an environment to develop research that is both intellectually sound and relevant to the world in which accounting is practised.
Ultimately, we hope that the research produced through the DPAcc will help organisations and professionals make better decisions, contribute to the development of the accounting profession, and address challenges that matter to society. The DPAcc is an opportunity to pursue questions that matter and create knowledge that makes a difference.
I encourage you to explore our DPAcc programme brochure, which provides further information about the programme, including its structure and admission requirements. We also welcome prospective students to our information sessions, which provide opportunities to learn more about the programme and engage with our faculty.
If you have any questions about the programme, please feel free to contact me or our programme team. I look forward to welcoming you to the School of Accountancy and to seeing the meaningful research and impact that our DPAcc community will create.
