Theoretical Accounting Research

This seminar aims to introduce analytic models that are useful for addressing the role of accounting information in an asymmetric information environment so that participants will be able to read analytic research articles in accounting literature. In the first part of the seminar, Prof Kwon will cover as many basic concepts and models as possible so that faculty members will be able to read analytic articles of their interest in accounting journals. Some of the concepts and models may include: (a) Equilibrium concepts in non-cooperative games (b) Security valuation (c) Asymmetric Information and market failures (d) Agency model (e) Signaling model In the second part of the seminar, selected articles that apply the basic concepts and models will be discussed.
