Our students at the School of Accountancy are encouraged to pursue their interests beyond the academic and many demonstrate excellence in these pursuits. We highlight a few of their achievements over the past year below.


BFI Case Jam 2025

Accountancy student Arthur Yap and his team clinched Champion at the BFI Case Jam 2025 held in The case competition required participants to form teams on the spot and work together to develop a case in 5 hours.

Champion Team: “Butter Bear” - Ernest Neo Yao Jie, Xu Zhi Xiang, Loi Hann, Raea and Lam Ting Kang

The Champion team will have the opportunity to represent Singapore at the Deloitte Southeast Asia Tax Challenge 2026.

2025 EY Young Tax Professional of the Year

Singapore Finalist

Accountancy student Lam Ting Kang represented Singapore at the EY Young Tax Professional of the Year Global Finals 2025.

Deloitte Southeast Asia Tax Challenge 2026

Finalists and Best Writer

Accountancy students Xu Zhi Xiang, Lam Ting Kang, Ernest Neo Yao Jie, Loi Hann Rae and Nigel Tan Chongkai, were finalists at the Deloitte Southeast Asia Tax Challenge 2026. Nigel also emerged as Best Writer for the Individual Category of the competition. The regional challenge was held in Kuala Lumpur and the team represented Singapore as local champions of the SMU Tax Case Challenge 2025.

NTU National Tax Competition 2026

The following SMU Bachelor of Accountancy students clinched top awards at the NTU National Tax Competition 2026:

Champions: Hong Si En and Tai Liu Ying, with students from other institutions

Second Place: Ashmit Bansal, Winston Soh, Xavier Teng, Ooi Jian Hui and Cheang Xian Yu
