Cashflow Automation

Cashflow Automation

Company Sponsor: Miclyn Express Offshore

Headquartered in Singapore, MEO Group has been providing specialised marine services since the 1970s, with operations in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Trusted by the world’s biggest oil companies, the Group has a demonstrated track record of operational and safety excellence in providing specialized offshore vessel solutions.

Title: Cashflow Automation

Project Team: Lee Heng Jie, Ling Li Ting, Mavis Ng Kit Yeng, Nur Fatin Hanani Binte Mohamad Mohideen and Shah Dhaval Mehul

Problem

The objective is to develop a semi-automation solution to the Cash Flow forecasting processes to reduce the amount of manual and repetitive work required such as compiling information from various sources and calculation of values. Additionally, an interactive dashboard was created to allow for Cash Flow performance analysis as well as for comparison of actual and forecasted figures.

Solution

We had adopted a problem-solving approach in which we understood the root causes of the key issues faced by the client and derived the solutions with the use of expertise in programming language acquired from our modules. Hence, we were able to automate simple tasks by designing and implementing a solution that helped streamline the preparation of the client’s cashflow forecast statements, as well as create an insightful and interactive dashboard from the data.

We gained new expertise by expanding the basic skills in softwares like Python and VBA. Additionally, communication with the members and clients are also important to ensure the project is right on track. Ultimately, the key problems have been addressed and we would like to thank both our client and professors for their guidance.
